To carry a firearm in the performance of regulated security duties, security officers and agency managers must also obtain a Class “G” Statewide Firearm License. No employee may carry or be furnished a firearm unless it is required by her or his duties and it is carried only in connection with those duties. The firearm must be encased in full view at all times unless otherwise provided by law.

Training

An applicant for a Class “G” license must submit proof of having completed an initial course of instruction that includes 28 hours of classroom and range training pertaining to the use of firearms in connection with duties regulated under Chapter 493, Florida Statutes (F.S.).

To maintain licensure, the Class “G” license holder must complete four hours of requalifying training each year.

We offer the 28 hour Class "G" (Armed) Security Officer Course for any person wishing to obtain employment as an armed Security Officer in the State of Florida to obtain their Statewide Firearms License.
